Synopsis: Fighting over a remote in gibberish.

Production Notes: This film was made by the students of the 2008 DCIFF 4 hour filmmaking workshop. I hosted this workshop in hopes to inspire more creative filmmaking talent in the DC area.

The students learned the craft in a 2 hour crash course, then filmmed the pre-written script in the remaining 2 hours. The actors were also students in the workshop.

Synopsis: Captain Jack and his team of pirates move into the corporate world.

Production Notes: Made for the MTV/Yahoo movie spoof contest. This is a spoof of Pirates of the Caribbean, corporate style. Captain Jack and his team of pirates take on the board room. With a minimal crew and days left till the submission deadline, we shot @ Kyla's office using her friends and co-workers as pirates. This is her first time writing/directing. It was something short and simple we shot over 2 weekdays after work.

Synopsis: Who is the right man for her?

Production Notes: Made for the DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival 2006. This was a contest to see who can come up with the best 60 second promo trailer to open up the festival on September 28, 2006. I decided to do this last minute after they extended the deadline. This was rushed. I needed a very simple, yet effective idea that I could shoot under very short notice and without any experienced actors, so I used mostly my friends and friends of friends to act in this one.

I found a nice, decent looking hallway at Candace's apartments, so she let us use her place. We were able to finish shooting in 2 hours.

Synopsis: Eric, a Christain missionary, is on his morning routine to spread the word of God. What he finds is anything but routine.

Production Notes: Made for the DC 48 hour film project, 2008.
This was my 3rd 48 hour film. We headquarted at a condo in Chinatown, located on 777 7th, and our screening time for the finished film was on May 7th @ 7pm. With all these signs of good luck, we were bound to encounter disaster.

This time around we lost an entire P2 card, 16Gigs of footage. 3 Major scenes, the middle, end, and beginning part was all unrecoverable from the P2 card. We were able to recall most of the actors for 1 hour on Sunday to reshoot a new ending. It was 2pm by the time we finished shooting 2 new scenes to complete the story, and save the film and turned it in on time.

My friend Sibil's film
Synopsis: Old shoes can have flash backs too

Production Notes: 3 months ago, when I was at the subway ... I was thinking what to shoot for my final project ... I was depressed because I couldnt find anything ... I was looking desperately at the floor, when came the idea of making a film about shoes :):):)

The film was shot in 4 hours (I couldnt have the camera for longer), all the actors are non-actors (like in Soviet Montage films). I used my friend's house for indoor shootings and her neighbourhood for the outdoors. I cut the film my self, it took about 6 hours to cut ... For your information, the music was added after the editing was finished, by miracle, the song duration was exactly the same as the film's

Synopsis: In a future controlled by women, can one man make a difference?

Production Notes: Made as part of the 48 Hour Film Project, where filmmakers from the local area compete to script, shoot, edit, and produce a short film in only 48 hours! This was my first time attempting such a crazy project, so I needed a crazy enough group of people to do it with me. With the help of a few friends, I got an enthusiastic team together, who had no experience in making a movie

Genre: Sci-Fi
Character: Tim or Tina Tate, gay glass sculptor extraodinaire
Prop: Fire extinguisher
Dialogue: "This is absolutely the last time."

The plan was to script Friday May 5 from 7-11pm, but the script didn't get finalized until 4pm Sat May 6, when we already had 2/3 of the movie shot. No time for storyboard, no time for shot lists, and definitely no time for sleep. We began make-up and shooting from 8am until 1am Sat. For the lounge scene, we tried to shoot at my apartment lounge, which looked perfect for the script, but unfortunately we got booted by security for not having a permit and I lost my tape:-( So we had to re-arrange my apartment and turned it into a lounge. Sun May 7, was all day editing and voice dubbing due to the extreme winds at the exterior locations. That took way longer than expected and I ran into computer problems last minute, and ended up rushing a contingency copy to the drop-off location without even previewing it. Needless to say there were some problems with the submitted copy. We made the deadline with just 2 minutes to spare. The director's cut is posted on the left.

Synopsis: A silly tale of a woman who seeks the advice of a wise man.

Production Notes: Shot in 3 days at the house of Charmaine and roommates. This is my 2nd film, and first one made in the States. I used 3 of my friends with little-zero acting experience, and found 2 actors off craigslist. I was in the middle of moving to a new apartment during the 3 days of shooting. Total shooting time was around 11 hours. None of my volunteer crew showed up, but fortunately Lorraine brought a helping hand. I was able to get all the shots on my shot list, but a few of them didn't turn out the way I envisioned, so I had to scrap a lot of the shots and improvise a few of the transitions and cuts. This was also my first time working with audio and dialogue. I used my studio AKG mic to capture crisp, clean sound. Lighting was done with regular candles and house lights. I decided to go with a 18:9 wide screen ratio for a tighter framming than the 16:9 ratio that it was recorded in.
